Nyle Sykes

It was an unlikely set of circumstances that led me here. I didn’t grow up around startups or finance, but hard work and excellence were non-negotiables. That drove me to fencing, where I represented my country internationally, then to MIT, where I quickly fell in love with entrepreneurship and investing, and now here, where I strive to be in service to founders who similarly defy expectations and share my obsession with the “imagine if” stage.
At First Round, Nyle is a generalist early-stage investor.
Prior to joining First Round, Nyle was an early-stage technology investor at NEA, where he invested in and supported companies like Sakana AI, Metronome, and Contra. Before that, he was an investment banker at Evercore in New York, where he worked on M&A transactions and capital raises for technology and fintech clients globally. Prior to Evercore, Nyle spent time at The Walt Disney Company and Klarity, an AI back-office automation startup, in strategy and business development roles.
Nyle graduated from MIT where he studied computer science and finance.
