We've interviewed dozens of founders for a new series on product-market fit.

Julia Govberg

Chief of Staff

In my role as Chief of Staff, I work alongside Bill Trenchard to evaluate new investment opportunities, conduct due diligence, and support entrepreneurs in the First Round community. Every day, I get to listen to the stories and ideas dreamed up by innovative founders, and I love going deep and researching a wide range of industries, from vertical SaaS to the future of transportation.

Before that, I led the Community function at First Round for over three years, bringing together the bright minds of our community to share knowledge and learn from each other. This included planning events, moderating discussions for our online community, and running Fast Track, our mentorship program that supports thousands of startup operators.

The common thread that weaves through my work as a Chief of Staff and previously as Community Lead is the power of relationships to push groundbreaking ideas forward. Whether it’s a founder choosing the right partner to back them and help launch their vision or a newer startup employee leaning on an experienced mentor, I’m a big believer that better companies are built by folks with trusted supporters in their corner.

Prior to First Round, I worked in Revenue Strategy at StubHub, and helped to think through how they could support fans with incredible experiences.

I graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in Accounting. During my time at Penn, I also mentored local high school students on how to be positive change-makers in their schools and neighborhoods.

In my free time, I enjoy reading nonfiction books, listening to Taylor Swift, exploring new cities, and trying different restaurants.
